Position Summary:    This is a hands-on position, in which you will be working and leading a team of mechanical and electrical Engineers and outside contractors to develop an array of core products as well as accessories.  Lead a team of mechanical and electrical engineers to manufacture and support VirTra products.  You will work with various departments to plan how hardware engineering can best execute in order to support the objectives of sales, marketing, operations and customer service. Essential Functions: Lead a team of multi-disciplined engineers in the development of complex products. Participate in meetings to set company strategy and assess progress towards business goals. Work closely with QA and Program Management to develop standardized hardware development methodologies and processes. Partner with Operations and QA to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, testability, and ease of assembly. Coordinate program work with other departments, including Software Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Customer Support, and Manufacturing. Hire and direct staff to meet department goals and milestones. Lead the team in root cause analysis and resolution of design problems in current products. Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource/mentor. Ensure that product development is focused on meeting and exceeding design requirements. Work with Project Management in order to meet aggressive production and deliverable schedules within the engineering department. Develop and implement a progressive engineering culture and discipline that fosters creativity, motivation, performance, efficiency, commitment and collaboration while maintaining a long-term roadmap for technology. Implement processes to ensure products are designed to engineering best practices and employees adhere to operational compliance requirements. Measure and report on engineering KPI’s. Maintain ISO 9001 process for hardware department. Work with vendors to insure components meet or exceed design goals. Implement tools to gather engineering data, track projects, measure product failure rates, track issue resolution, track productivity, inform the team of key dates and milestones, and overall integrate with other company systems. Collaborate with operations and vendors to cost down designs to deliver products at or below target cost. Experience taking hardware products from prototype stage to full production. Experience handling the manufacturing and supply chain elements of sustaining a product and making improvements in new versions. Experience working with engineers and designers to make tradeoffs between cost targets and design goals to develop ultimate manufacturing specifications. Hands-on experience implementing ERP software. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is required Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment   Physical Demands:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  Frequently the employee will be required to stand; walk; use hands or fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Ability to occasionally lift products and/or supplies up to 25 lbs. and to sit and work at a computer for upwards of 4 hours at a time.    Education and Experience: BSA in any engineering focus, 10+ years of industry experience with at least 6 years in a management position. 10+ years of experience in operations, or manufacturing roles. Demonstrated team building and leadership skills. Electrical and Mechanical aptitude.   Additional requirements, if any:   Full-time position consisting of 40+ hours per week; normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
